Pros

Lots of hard working and knowledgeable people you can learn from, however the management doesn't seem to. Can abuse sick policy without any ramifications. Constant turnover, so you meet a lot of people. I think the pay is fair, I make the average in the area for my job, some of my friends make more and have more vacation.

Cons

Very disorganized. Executives sit in meeting and design the products, instead of listening and trusting the people that work under them. Project scopes are constantly changing, and creating more work, or projects are so rushed mistakes happen and it creates more work for everyone. Either way more work and long hours. Lots of animosity between groups, they are always ready to throw you under the bus. PROCESSES or lack there of. No one follows the ones that are in place, processes are not approved by the teams that must use them day to day.

Pros

A great resume builder! Get noticed quicker in the job market by adding the name Generac to your resume. If you can last more than a year at this company, you can handle just about anything! You can also work as many weekends as you want. The company does not frown on working late nights or weekends. This company also promotes a healthy work / life balance, as long as your life doesn’t interfere with work.

Cons

Non-Rewarding: Accomplishments are not rewarded properly. They are briefly acknowledged then quickly forgotten or dismissed. However, promotions are available and provided to young attractive women, simply for being young and attractive. If you are a young attractive woman, this is a great place to work! Bureaucratic: Multiple approvals are required for routine tasks. You will spend more of your time selling internally than selling to your external customers. Provides great experience in politics if that is a field you are interested in, but is very inefficient in a business environment. High Expectations: Economics does not apply to this company. Management does not appear to understand nor care about how demand affects the marketplace. Expectations are high at the beginning of the year, and remain high throughout the year regardless of demand or any other business change. Turnover: The company seems to have a revolving door. In my three years at Generac, I reported to seven different direct managers. Management preaches that change is good and needs to be embraced; you can’t disagree with that statement. However, too much change too rapidly causes un-needed stress. The amount of turnover at Generac has caused an enormous amount of un-needed stress. Unorganized: Very sloppy decisions are being made causing delays. These things need to be framed up better and much more organized before announcing because it reflects poorly on the company and agents of the company. People need to understand the ramifications of these delays and be held accountable for them. Instead, acceptance has become part of the culture. Low Pay: Review the salaries page and compare to the market, this will allow you to gauge compensation provided at this company. Keep in mind that many of these salaries are based on achieving bonus. In a time of low demand, bonus is unattainable. Without bonus, the compensation plan falls far behind the market. Getting promoted into a new role will provide you with an increase, but that increase is based on a capped percentage. The only way to truly increase your earnings is to leave the company.

Pros

good product. they provide hourly work to people is rural area.(very low pay but still work in an are with not much else)

Cons

Where to start? A lot of management works here for a reason. Most would never make it anywhere else. Very low class. Absolutely no career plan, don't think they even know what that is. HR will end up getting sued soon. Lying to recruiter employees isn't right, starting off with the location and job the employees will be doing. No drug testing brings in an interesting crowd. Racism and misconduct is allover the manufacturing floor and HR things its funny. They don't pay for driving your own car, even after one month, 7 days a week and over 130 miles per day. My car sure did like that. Company over all is way behind in every level. They like people that present well and run their mouth and ignore the once that get the job done and keep the company going. They had the nerve to tell an employee to stand by a machine and open the door to push the part back on if its about to fall off. When they got busted by OSHA they blamed the employee and moved him to a different line. Its not safe to work here. One of the reason I left is they were ignoring my warning about the chemicals they are using. Some of the manufacturing work is no better then China level. Why do you require Engineers to dress professionally and tell them to do maintenance work??? Do you know how much close is ruined per year? There is a very strong old boys club but very low class, and a big hinder to the growth of the company.
