Pros

Easy going with no pressure. You don't have someone looking over your shoulder and if you need work it's not hard to find. Helping people out and fixing problems to make the lines run smoothly is rewarding.

Cons

The benefits need to be reviewed and improved. When getting hired in and finding out later that you have to wait for almost two years before you get a raise is sad. Having no paid vacation time the first year is not good. People in management and engineers come and go so fast out the door and move on to someplace else show's me that there is know one there to try and keep people. The weight put on people forces them out. Working overtime is a way of life and when you get hired in and told we always work overtime is good but when the ( bottom falls out ) and your down to fority hours for an indeffinite period of time really hurts. Wiating on a hurricane to take the inventory built up and get overtime in order to make more to replace it kinda shows me that the planning needs to be reviewed.

Lack of Employee Appreciation

Pros

-Nice, recently updated facility with cafeteria -Lots of opportunity for advancement/internal promotion -Fun company picnics A lot really depends on your team/boss. My current boss is clearly rooting for me to do well and has advocated for my professional development from day 1. He allows me flexibility to pursue avenues that are of interest to me, and proposes projects that will push me outside of my comfort zone. In my previous position at the company, everything was much more regimented and coming to work was not enjoyable. We were incredibly micro-managed and it seemed like we were constantly being berated for something.

Cons

-Low pay -2 weeks starting vacation, don't bump up to 3 weeks until 5 years -Little flexibility with hours (depending on department), strict with attendance for some but little in the way of ramifications for those who abuse policies -No lines of open communication (varies by department)

Pros

There are some good people working here. Benefits are decent, except the limited vacation.

Cons

Company has almost tripled in size in the last 4 years to a $1.5 billion company, but upper management still tries to run things like a $500 million company. Most salaries below the management level are well below average. IT department is underfunded and over worked. Everyone does the work of 3 to 4 people but are under paid. They concentrate on the upfront cost to much and not the long term. Spent to much to remodel very old building when they probably could have built a better more efficient facility from scratch. They are buying companies left and right but are not taking the time to integrate them properly. They waste money on useless cosmetic updates like polishing the production floor, but penny pinch on the important stuff. They keep hiring VPs and Directors but no employees to implement and support all their new ideas. Forcing out long term good knowledgeable people so the new management can bring in their friends. HR is way to powerful. Many directors and VPs want to pay their employees mileage for traveling back and forth to their many "local" facilities which are an average of 30-60 minutes apart, but HR says "No we don't pay mileage." Some employees put 2,500+ miles a year on their personal vehicles with no compensation at all. They are starting to fill open positions with contractors so they don't have to pay them benefits. This leads to lack advancement so a lot careers are in a holding pattern. Most people I know are very unhappy and looking for new jobs. A lot of good knowledgeable people have already left. Generac has a gained reputation in Southeastern Wisconsin as a revolving door.
