Pros

- Salary is decent - Benefits are decent (but that was slowing changing when I left, they decided at one point that since we weren't using all of our paid time off that they would just decrease the accrual rate for everyone since we didn't need it) - They do have interesting projects and programs.

Cons

- You have to leave the company and come back to get any type of promotion. - The software architect is a .NET drone and truly believes that .NET is the right tool for the job even if it is obviously not. You would think after the 3rd time of trying to build complex applications using .NET which have requirements to run on Linux and using Mono to meet this requirement and failing miserably every time that you would learn from these mistakes. Think again... - Performance isn't based on your work output. It is based on how well you brown nose with your superiors. - Those interesting projects and programs can turn into nightmares if said software architect is involved. - When the projects that said architect is involved with fail, he will instantly throw his team under the bus to save himself.

Pros

They pay very well and the employees are hard workers

Cons

They are in a death spiral. The current management has shown no backbone to make the tough decision to reduce the level of principals, directors and VPs while reducing the workforce. The result is that these senior managers just get re-assigned elsewhere to keep making the same dumb decisions

Pros

Big name, Opportunities for advancement, if in the right area and know how to play the game.

Cons

General Dynamics is a huge company with smaller business units under it. Some function very efficiently, while others are a mess. The AIS division is a dumping ground for every piece of the company they can't figure out what to do with. If your division gets moved under AIS, you know it's a matter of time, before you are sold off to the next higher bidder (the best case scenario) or they will just kill it and fade it off into eternity. This has happened to too many good companies already. No one ever knows what the process is, because there isn't one. You have endless meetings talking about the processes and plan to discuss more at the next meeting. Pay scale seems off the charts for some and peanuts for others. It really depends on where you were in the company and how you played your cards. If you could manage to get into a position where you could travel and get paid Per Diem, you'd make a killing.
