Used to be a good company (Motorola Government Sector) then deteriorate over the years into an empty shell of itself.
Pros
1. Used to be a great place to work for in terms of benefits, compensation and being part of something with national importance. 2. Many, many smart engineers
Cons
1. Usually not the best management at the lower level and the top management lacks vision, guts, ability to think outside the box to take advantage of the incredible resources. The resources that Motorola has assembled at this campus and then upon inertia, GD has built upon for a little while, until GD corporate culture kicked in. 2. No ability or the will to penetrate adjacent markets that have similar needs as the markets GD is playing in. 3. Complete lack of investment in human resources and intellectual property. 4. Government contracting mentally from the 90s: “we won’t move a finger unless someone pays for it”. Instead of the approach of investing in products and technologies that can be offered to the Government under more competitive rates, as Raytheon, Northrup Grumman, Lockheed and BEA are doing. 5. This business unit is bound to fail and be auctioned off or closed.
