      Pros

      Opportunity to work with some of the most wonderful and dedicated people. You can be proud of the end result product.

      Cons

      The amount of focus on evaluations, lengthy meetings, and multiple side-tasks, that are of little value; leave limited time to complete important assigned tasks, that impact others greatly. High level of focus on one low-level task not accomplished, while over looking numerous higher-level tasks that are completed.

      Declining company with out-of-touch management

      Pros

      - Good compensation - Fairly flexible on starting and stopping daily hours - Coworkers on same team can be a plus

      Cons

      - Upper management doesn't seem to care about retaining talent. - Upper management seems out-of-touch with the common workers/engineers. - Declining benefits(taking away vacation and yearly merit raises) - Unrealistic schedules makes the environment one where you are set up to fail unless you want to work more than 60 hours per week.

      Pros

      When I started at GD it was a great place to work. Very supportive management. A balance of work-life was promoted and followed. It is no longer that way. They had a really great group of bright, intelligent engineers at the Needham facility. They were a pleasure to work with.

      Cons

      The last few years at GD were a negative experience. All the cons listed in other reviews are true: Too much management, management thinks engineers are interchangeable. They simply throw more bodies at a project and think that will solve the problem. Expected to work long hours and weekends with little recognition or financial compensation. Salaries are low compared similar jobs in other industries. There is definite favoritism and if you are favored you can get away with doing very little. Intelligent, hard working engineers that are not in the inner circle will get slighted.
