Pros

I just came across this site and I must say that I am stunned and embarrassed by the insulting comments some of my current co-workers have posted about GeoSol. I have been here for long enough to know that this is the best place I have ever worked. I have already made several friends here at work and I do value my job and the pay is fair for the experience I have in programming and I do like the various benefits that are offered, like PTO and casual dress and different events that are held (lunches, parties) We do have alot of projects ongoing and some late hours that come with being a programmer, but for someone to say this is a sinking ship is just not right and it actually demeans the hard work that me and my teammates and other departments do each day. I am glad that we have alot of work to do here, because my last company went belly-up due to the economy and i don't want to re-live that feeling again. The comments about getting your email looked at? Maybe this wouldn't happen if these gripers actually worked all day instead of standing around in the parking lot and gossiping and putting the company down all the time. No one from management or HR has ever said anything to me about that kind of stuff. I really enjoy my teammates and most everyone is understanding that we have rough patches but the owner is fair and approachable and has been doing things to improve the morale.

Cons

We have alot of different versions of the software and we need to get some better handle on how the processes evolve to clean up our development. There are times when we find out right before we are supposed to leave that we have to stay and do extra work, which hopefully won't happen as much in the future if the processes get fixed.

Pros

Great for college grads to learn from. Learn as much as you can and then get out. This place is a dead end job as many. Harness your skillset and leave. But prepare to put in long hours!

Cons

The owner is a one man shop . There is one org chart, the owner, below sits everyone else. You are expected to work long hours, if you are a member of the 42:30 club then you are nothing. You are considered a warrior if you stay late. Completing job assignments is just not enough, if you just sit there after 5:30 pm you are considered a hero. Since you are putting the hours in, playing online poker or video games as long as you are in front of a monitor screen you should be golden and will mostlikely be promoted. One of the worst management of people I've seen. People working in factories probably are treated better. This company tries to be hip by offering free sodas, the benefits are bad to average. PTO don't even think about asking for vacation, you are considered an enemy for asking and will be personally attacked for just thinking of vacation. You are also not allowed to have a personal life, no work life balance. Do not dare to have outside activities, the company IS your sole purpose. If you want to work for a place that treats you like you are sub human and insult you and blame you for management's decision, please apply.

Pros

I have been at this company for a few years now and yes there are some challenges and hurdles that we have to deal with. But I work with really smart, driven teammates who understand that we are in the software business and in order to be successful, we have to all pull together for our efforts to work. For this size company, they offer excellent benefits and alot of nice perks, like bonuses, free lunches, parties.

Cons

the company has an aggressive timetable for product delivery and sometimes we never know what the immediate priority really is. Better communication between teams and management is needed.
