George Mason great to work within your team, but not outside of it.
Pros
Great state of Virginia benefits package. Once you complete your first year you pretty much can't be fired. Working in the performing arts this was a great gig as it was full time with benefits. These jobs are few and far between in this industry. It was good to work within my department.
Cons
As you can't be fired we have seen several people who couldn't perform were just transferred to other jobs in the school and the people with half their pay who were covering were made to continue with little compensation. Trying to get a hold of a competent HR rep was impossible some days. Their was a definite chasm between management and the workers. To them everything was fine. After working three 18 hour days straight I was told that I should be thankful to have my job.
