Pros

Good benefits, great learning experience for professional development and the company does a lot in the community to ensure it has a positive presence.

Cons

It is difficult to be successful in your career based on good work ethics. That helps but the key to success requires building a great network of leaders to speak on your behalf. It requires a lot of kissing up to leadership opposed to your work ethic speaking for itself. Family work life balance is not valued either, especially in the customer care center.

The Real Scoop

Pros

There are some genuially nice people who work there and some really competent, caring managers who really value their employees and treat them with respect. I had a chance to speak to many employees outside of my department and they were overall happy within the company. I met folks with 10+ years of tenure, some with more than that which should give you a good idea of overall job stability. After all the power company won't be going out of business anytime soon.

Cons

Stay away from Corporate Communications! You may have noticed a lot of job postings for that department recently and there's a good reason for that. The department is mismanaged and run out of fear. All the managers are inexperienced, scared about losing their jobs and impart that fear unto their employees. Not only that but I was the victim of bullying by my manager and when I took it to HR it only got worse. They entire department went through a re-org last year(2016) and several seasoned employees were let go which left the department in disarray and in the control of folks who frankly have no clue.
