Pros

The insurance benefits are very good, as well as the ability to pay into the Teacher's Retirement System even as staff. Casual atmosphere. If you like science journals, you have access to all paid subscriptions from the library. Large gym and Olympic pool on campus, but requires extra fee

Cons

Parking is terribly expensive ($600/year) and I have frequently had to deal with tons of red tape. We have recently had to have furlough days, and I have had no raises for a few years, but they have not laid off a single person that I know of.

Pros

If you want an easy job, have kids and want a pretty easy gig then this is your place. If you're far along in your career then I wouldn't recommend coming here unless it's a pit stop to have kids and then move on. There are very smart people at the top but nobody really shares that knowlege. The peer staffers are siloed and don't really communicate across other depts. I'd say if you're just starting out it's probably a good first stop but I would say that it would be a place where a career goes to die. No mas.

Cons

Pay stinks. Mostly staffers are lcd. Some very smart people coupled with the lcd.
