Pros

Gilead is definitively best in class biotech for the quality of the Research and TAs. Very high level staff in every dpt Extremely IT driven with fast working pace Attractive Comp&Ben

Cons

The system is spoiled by very low level HR people - among the worst I faced in my career They are not able to identify abusers, and treat them as such. A strong improvement is needed here

Pros

Good pay and benefits; Lots of work so you'll never get bored

Cons

Limited chances for career development. Management is clear that unless there is a business need to develop a new skill, forget about it. Most people get pigeonholed into doing one thing over and over, which on the plus side is efficient, but is also mind-numbing; Gilead claims to be a "pay for performance" company, however management has no clue who is doing what. I've seen people work 16 hour days and accomplish a tremendous amount of work, and I've seen people work 8 hour days and spend half the day socializing, but at the end of the year they end up with the same rating/bonus because management has no idea who is actually doing the work.

Pros

Not too many - pipeline seems dead, lots of pretty smart people, decent benefits. Seem to be able to launch products quickly, but are very sloppy and miss a lot of details that need to be cleaned up later at a huge cost.

Cons

Extremely poor senior management, arrogant, not interested in developing people. Work hour expectations are extreme - you are criticized if you use your vacation, expected to travel on weekends without compensation for the time, managers are critical, unsupportive and generally abusive and rude to the employees. Micromanagement is the preferred style, no trust of the employees to do their job.
