Pros

- you meet some incredibly talented engineers who are passionate about what they do - you get to work remote - you use to get cool swag

Cons

- bias against women for promotions, they tend to favour white males from corporate environments and it’s not based on merit from contributions (ie, code or impact of projects delivered) - burn out due to management making arbitrary deadlines to try to get results - on call on weekends where you are working all weekend, this a regular cadence due to delaying maintenance for feature work for profit
