Pros

Really the pay is the only thing worth while. The skills you can find anywhere in the industry. If you are entry level, don't worry they will hire you because they can't keep techs.

Cons

If I could give no stars I would. Frankly my time here has been horrible, and it's sad that a lot of other feel that way as well but can't leave. They do a good job of keeping you in Golden Handcuffs. My last department meeting they asked for "volunteers" to go to Malta because so many people had left. When asked why management said "they all said they were not being challenged enough" Looking at the reviews on here it's pretty obvious it's the work conditions. From the Work/Life balance, to the treatment of employees, no progression, no growth (if it's not what management wants) to the latest I have been a part of - the withdrawal of a bonus after being paid out. There are a lot of great techs, process, and engineers here (Malta and Fishkill) and frankly some awesome managers (who unfortunately get overshadowed). I suspect more and more will finally have had enough of working in these conditions and turnover will continue. As far as the East Fishkill site goes, there is really no product running and probably won't be after IBM is done making server chips there.

Pros

Working with latest technology. Nice cafeteria. Still new environment (chairs, desks, tables, etc)

Cons

Many managers lack technical skills then they are not able to make any decisions. They pay more attention who talks better and which power point looks nicer. Paying attention to the format and not to the content. Very chaotic due to the lack of leadership

Global FLOUNDRIES

Pros

We are the first globally true pure play “floundries”. We managed to flounder through every step in every fab location of our company in the world. We will be number one after probably the judgment day. As an engineer I was never a believer of God. But spending time here has taught me to be introspective and realize that I am in hell. So by logic there has to be a heaven. We have hit absolutely the last circle of hell and there is no way but to go upwards to heaven. If you are trapped in a sinking ship and there are no life vests, you try hard to save the ship and help fellow workers trying to do the same. Mostly the people I have worked with are great. If you thought the movie “Office Space” is hilarious, think again. Glofo offers some of the funniest moments for everyday entertainment. If someone can compile daily events it can be the greatest sitcom that ever will be. But what happens in Glofo stays in Glofo. IBM mafia has now almost replaced the Chartered and Korean mafia previously in charge. But don't expect any better, or you will be subject to rigorous mandatory EQ trainings as punishment.

Cons

Well, nothing really although it's a bit cold in Malta area and cleaning snow is hard. Oh, BTW did I mention, work is humiliating at best.
