Pros

1. Established software systems for engineers to do our daily routine 2. Regular quarterly bonus 3. Colleagues in same team are generally easy to work with

Cons

1. 24/7 on call as you need to oversee all chips running in the fab 2. Only basic benefits such as usual 14 day leave, with no increment unless promoted. Not employee friendly especially if you are single. 3. Automated fab with poor data science/AI/ML capabilities to help solve complex manufacturing process related issues happening in production line. Even the yield engineering team and their manager, who supposedly has the required technical expertise having a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and being the lead in AI/ML of Digital Manufacturing, who is supposed to champion these industrial 4.0 capabilities just blindly sit and watch us get hammered by the management, without even trying to lend a helping hand in solving such problems when they occur. Likely that the department does not even understand the theoretical nature of how AI/ML works.
