Truly global company

Pros

Working in a dynamic and cross cultural team , a fast pace work environment which would help to mold a new engineer into shape, pay matches with industry standards

Cons

Training is not widely available to all engineers. And most of the training only takes place during the day. It might be better if there are training sessions which are available between 7-10 pm , considering the night shift engineers as well

Pros

Excellent technology, good research capabilities, smart people are prevalent in technology and manufacturing areas. Great for upstate New York and local economy and the fab in Malta is the most advanced facility of its kind globally. Cafeteria is high-end.

Cons

Work-life balance doesn't exist, for an open space environment there is not a lot of collaboration and email is used way too much as the primary form of communication. You walk around and not everyone is enthusiastic, they are hard at work but there is a culture that exists where employees are on edge. There have been several leadership changes at the executive level and it is highly political and driven by Singapore and Milpitas. If you join GF, you will work a lot of hours, nights and weekends and the company does not truly value its employees - its greatest asset.

Pros

Certainly GF is and will be among the most dynamic, demanding and interesting companies for the next couple of years. Huge, global investments in high-cost countries in state of the art high-tech. What an experiment that is complete the opposite of what all other global companies are doing

Cons

Contacted via head-hunter GF offered more than one challenging job. Interviews via phone went well for all parties involved and we all agreed to proceed further. And suddenly it turned out, that there is no budget for the positions. I have thought of a bad excuse to hire someone else. But via private contacts the information is confirmed. So the GF HR kept the head-hunter busy, kept a few candidates around Europe busy, wasted theirs and other peoples time with various telephone conferences - and then HR´s figures out there is no budget ? Come on guys, don´t do this again !
