Pros

-Goldman Culture; lots of resources -Great exposure to c-suite clientele -Non-commission based planning role -If you don't mind taxes and working really hard for minimum increases, the move to Account Manager will be worth it

Cons

-Nepotism, if you are not liked, despite your work product, you will stall in regard to advancement -Pay is well under industry mean and you work heavy hours during tax season -If your Account Manager does not want to guide/teach you, you will stall out as many are too busy to help -Goldman culture in regard to 'sharp elbows' within the office in regard to advancement -Leadership can seem disinterested ie: attends meetings on cell phones -If you are faced with a circumstance where individuals are violating the hand book or ethics, leadership will likely take no action to resolve the issue. Account Managers and up are practically invincible

Pros

The training is second to none. Hands down the best in the business, or at least was. Being a financial “Coach”, as they are currently branded, is a fantastic opportunity to build your technical skills and strengthen your soft skills. Play your cards right and there are opportunities within Ayco which can provide more of a career path. They people there are great, too. The benefits are alight. The medical insurance offering are sub par, 401k is par, paid time off is above average.

Cons

There is no such thing as upward mobility, therefore no one can blame the person next to him when the motivation lacks after a year or so. The communication between senior management and the majority is non existent as well. Hit lack of transparency among management is one of the large drawbacks and often times kept the greater population in the dark. Historically, promotions are based on tenure, which is claimed to be subject to change going forward. This is an ideal entry level job, but as with most large employers, there are major issues in this division.

Pros

Wow, upper management is really pushing for top tech. Which is awesome if you are in Tech or Starts division. I here high performer analysts this year received around 40k bonus and 30% salary increase, which is unprecedented. Not sure how they compensated people at higher levels. Upper management is trying to match other tech companies' compensation to compete for top people now.

Cons

In some teams expect to work multiple weekends and also stay late. On an avg day people leave around 7 pm. Some people log back in when they get home.
