      Nice place to work on the Street

      Pros

      There are a lot of Smart people working at Goldman Sachs. There is a lot of co-operation across team and I haven't seen that at similar sized organizations. At Goldman's size things move around fast.They pay quite good relative to others in the industry.

      Cons

      Long hours can be a issue but it totally depends on which group you belong to. There is a general impression that hours at GS are pretty long which is true if you wanna paint the whole place with a single brush stroke. They are a little late in adopting new technology

      Pros

      Collaborative culture in technology, exposure to international teams, benefits package, good pay, emphasis on workplace flexibility at least in my group, large incoming new analyst class so it gives you a large network to utilize, early exposure to many aspects of the industry and large-scale challenges faced even at the entry level, and a great emphasis on continued training and community involvement.

      Cons

      Longer work hours (50+), not as creative as other industries like entertainment or non-finance-based business, hard to move from one division to another, a very self-segregating culture, and easy to feel inferior when compared to revenue-generating divisions.

      Goldman is a fantastic place to work but be very careful about your manager

      Pros

      Some divisions of the firm are fantastic and the people in the firm are great and wonderful people - always willing to help you in your career. Goldman Sachs is a great place to work but not every manager is fantastic.

      Cons

      Different divisions of the firm are completely different in their treatment of junior staff and of course the most important contributor to your satisfaction at work is your manager. I'd suggest taking a very very strong look at your manager before considering any taking any roles here. This is particularly true in the Operations division.
