Pros

Google is very generous with the total compensation (TC), which is composed of: 1.) Highly competitive base salary depending on your "Level." 2.) Annual bonus (40% of base) 3.) Equity (front-loaded 33%/33%/22%/12%) 4.) Sign-on bonus 5.) Relocation package Cool perks: Googleplex gym, free food (3 meals a day + snacks + drinks), 50% 401k matching up to $19,500, hybrid work model (MF at home, TWTH in office), PTO, education reimbursement, internet & phone reimbursement, massage chairs & nap pods, cool office spaces with different themed rooms (Harry Potter, etc.), bikes and scooters to get around campus Everyone at Google is intelligent, helpful, and friendly. The best part is diversity and inclusion. I've never felt safer being different, sharing unique ideas, and being myself at any other organization. The leaders and my peers constantly challenge me to grow in more ways than I can imagine. There are different programs for mentorship, which helped me discover my career path. I feel supported here, and the kindness of my team is genuine, and I feel like everyone wants to help each other.

Cons

It's a big tech company, so it takes more time to make an impact vs. a tech start-up. There are politics and nuances to getting promoted, but that's a given with any big corporation.

Pros

Great coworkers Decent pay Maybe it will get better

Cons

The company is undervaluing this area. By working anywhere else in the country - Pittsburgh Pa, Rural Virginia -- even 40 miles West to Burlington, NC you would make more money. This does a disservice to the area. The company further claims it is trying to hire more HBCU graduates in this location... So cheapest location in the country, and trying to hire HBCU graduates. Not a good look. The News & Observer and Washington post have both issued articles "Google lowered its salaries in North Carolina. Now workers are protesting" and "Google employees protest company’s Durham wage policy. Here’s why they’re upset" On a less key note, compared to other google offices, the office here seems surprisingly normal - more akin to your typical office location than you think of when you hear google office. Maybe this isn't a bad thing, but it shouldn't feel so targeted as making this a "discount" location.

Pros

An abundance of free perks: good, gyms, discounted massages, great offices

Cons

Google makes it incredibly hard to change job ladders. I have done an absurd amount of 20% projects across various teams to sharpen my skill sets, and have been looking for a new non-administrative job for three years now (of my nearly four year tenure) and have not gotten one offer. I have more than seventy closed applications for roles that I am more than qualified for. It has come down to me and another candidate numerous times now, and I’m constantly told that I do not have enough experience, when I clearly do. If you don’t want to grow your career in a significant way, this is a great place, but if you do, you should think twice about working here.
