Pros

Great work atmosphere with smart and motived people. Exciting and viable product, possibility to work and learn in lots of different areas: R&D at the very edge of computer vision knowledge, software engineering of complex systems, huge data volume.

Cons

Need to hire more engineers and refine the processes.

Nightmare of a company

Pros

-Close to BART and a Peet's Coffee -unionized and in negotiations for a contract, if you can last that long

Cons

-no health benefits, no dental, no eye care -no PTO -no full-time options -bare minimum sick time as required by California law -no raises, no promotions -management needs to be notified 24hr in advance for all emergencies if you can't make it to work that day/on time, including if you fall ill or BART is delayed by someone on the tracks, or they will fire you Management, in the Quality Training Department and senior management, treated us like animals. It got so bad our department was forced to unionize; which Grabango management took as incentive to further harass us and break labor laws to do so. Grabango fostered an extremely hostile work environment by literally making one employee come into work while vomiting into a bag or face termination, during the CORVID-19 outbreak. I also personally experienced transphobia from managers, on top of how negatively I saw they treated other trans employees, and was actively targeted by one manager multiple times. HR proved 0% helpful on numerous occasions to the point of harassing me for my identity, months after no incident, after I complained about said manager. I was even assigned to that manager for all "discipline" after my complaints as well, despite their being other managers I could have been assigned to. Communication was at an all time low when I decided to leave, with managers actively avoiding speaking to any of us and refusing to utilize our supervisors to let us know what our job even was from day-to-day. Modes of communication were taken away, and often I'd find myself begging in emails or our work messenger system for any help from management, only to be pointedly ignored. God forbid anything mildly stressful happened or managers would implode; belittling employees as they work, sometimes literally yelling, or snapping at anyone who asked for extra assistance or took "too long" on a task. The only thing they "managed" was to take what would be a low stakes, low stress job and turn into a nightmare of micromanaging despite hardly ever knowing what is going on and giving no actual help. I had to stop counting the number of times I asked a manager for an answer and they responded with "I don't know" and never got back to me with an answer for vital workflow issues. TL:DR This company is a joke, don't bother until they get a contract. Grabango management is dangerously inexperienced and actively hostile on all levels. The HR department uses anything you complain about to further make the workplace hostile. Working here is being a part of something lesser.
