Pros
The people at Great Hearts all seem dedicated to giving kids good, solid education that focuses on mastery of basic and necessary skills rather than teaching to a test. There is a huge emphasis on behavior that a lot of kids really need and aren't getting elsewhere. It's an occupation one can feel comfortable knowing they are doing something worthwhile in. I love the kids and I love what I get to teach them! There are very good support systems in place for teachers.
Cons
You get paid beans. Until something changes in budgeting on the government's level, you will not get paid your time's worth. Also, the pop culture taboo is something I can recognize has it's place, but it seems a little extreme in some cases. Just there are appropriate times to get up and sharpen one's pencil, I think there are times and assignments when pop culture can be allowed in some small measure without taking away too much from the school's pursuit of Classical beauty and education.
