Cons

My experience working at Greystar was extremely disappointing and ultimately led me to leave the company. While the company promotes growth, professionalism, and merit-based advancement, my reality was the opposite. As an assistant manager, I was routinely expected to perform the full responsibilities of a property manager without the title, compensation, or support. This created burnout and resentment, especially when leadership failed to step in or acknowledge the imbalance. Despite being included in meetings and environments with managers and regional leadership, it became clear that promotions and opportunities were not based on performance or merit, but rather favoritism and personal connections. Who you know matters far more than how well you do your job. There is a noticeable culture of politics and favoritism, including family members and close relationships within leadership that directly influence promotions and career advancement. This creates a system that feels rigged and discouraging for employees who work hard and expect fair treatment. Support from management and regional leadership was lacking, and concerns raised by staff were often ignored or minimized. Leadership behavior in some settings was unprofessional and inappropriate, contributing to a toxic work environment and eroding trust in the company’s values. Ultimately, I felt unsupported, undervalued, and disillusioned. I chose to leave and take my skills to an organization that values professionalism, ethics, and true merit-based growth.
