Pros
So many times I have changed my job, and I always have seen the same things as in my previous company. But it was before GD... I can say that my professional life can be divided into two parts: before GD and after.
Onboarding. I’m impressed by the way development process is organized: from the start, I have had everything that I needed for my work - step by step instructions for dev process and organization environment. I started writing my code and taking part in teamwork from the first days! And all that in spite of massive “legacy”!
Openness. All the information provided for the newcomers is correct and useful. Both managers and administration always keep their word and follow even oral agreements. I consider this to be a perfect example of the high standard of business ethics.
My team is quite big, but they make me feel supported, and it helps my professional growth. Each member of the team brings something new and useful to me, and they always make my day!
Despite the need for constant functionality support, a significant part of my work is devoted to the elaboration of new options for program users, architecture design, and creation of new libraries. Having opportunities for creativity and challenges is excellent!
The technology stack is not sacred - I can suggest something new and be sure that it will be considered, discussed and might be applied. I’m working in a highly fast-developing area of Mobile, and here in GD, we are trying to keep up with the latest innovations.
Cons
The only thing that concerns me is a coffee maker which sometimes doesn’t work properly)
