Pros

I recently decided to join the Grocery Outlet team at the company's headquarters in Emeryville. After working many years in the corporate side of retail I have to say that Grocery Outlet is a breath of fresh air. The team here has been very welcoming and open to sharing knowledge which has made my transition very smooth. The environment is collaborative and supports new ideas without all the bureaucracy I've encountered in my past.

Cons

I haven't encountered any cons at this point.

Pros

The actual work I was doing was good. But it ended there.

Cons

MISERABLE management. Boss regularly passed others' work off as her own. Negative focus on career development -- I was once told in the tone of "ugh you dont want me to tell you this buuuut...I took over doing the weekly presentations b/c you're not very good at them" This is from my MANAGER, someone who is supposed to provide open and constructive feedback to help me advance my career and improve in areas of weakness. Instead, I got an insecure child who would engage in a catty, passive aggressive style and regularly manipulate the truth about what was going on to senior management. Frankly, if you're smart and speak your mind do NOT work here. Unfriendly to anyone with a differing opinion to theirs and without political motivations. If you want to spend the day delivering fake compliments and being rewarded for it this is the spot. I also caught two senior managers emailing back and forth about me and giggling while I'm two feet away. Should've ditched this place SO much sooner than I did. Get out and don't look back.
