Pros

Easy to apply and get an interview (turnover rate is very fast) No drug test or background check (not that it mattered for me, might matter for others) Coworkers were some of the nicest people I've met Overall a fairly easy job Lunches are cheap (it's a pretty good store in general, you can eat lunch for under a dollar)

Cons

Horrible managment. Moody owners (gets very upset with you call in sick or need scheduling changes) Has a very "can't help you" attitude with everything Doesn't allow employees to work full time (no benefits) Owners are very demeaning and make sarcastic remarks to you/about you in front of customers about personal things. Owners have also made discriminatory remarks about mentally disabled children who were appreciative of giving them the chance to volunteer. They also sell food (meat, produce) that has gone bad/not fit to sell. They just tell you to put a coupon on it and put it back on the shelf, or freeze it. Customers' attitude towards the store is worse than Walmart because it's a discount grocery store, so you have to constantly deal with unpleasant people.

Pros

Great small store, quick turnover rate resulted in quick progression through the ranks. Learned everything fast with hard work being rewarded.

Cons

Small stores build work relationships easily. Sometimes creates a difficult to work in environment, scheduling is done a week in advance due to unreliability with new fresh employees often working their first job.

Pros

It's great working at a place that gives people quality service and product for a better price; people love it.

Cons

Sometimes you run into shady customers and employees, since low income stores often attract low income people.
