Pros

Working at Guardian Life Insurance was a good experience. The work load is heavy but everyone pulled their weight. The company offers flex time and good benefits. They promote from within and offer training on a regular basis.

Cons

The work load is heavy, stress is prevelent in most departments, and job security is always a concern. Many employees feel a disconect between the Bethlehem office and Corporate headquarters.

Pros

Overall benefits package good compared to other companies. Drastic reduction in benefits over the past 3 to 5 years.

Cons

Senior Management turnover is high which has caused a change in direction too often. Company looks good on paper, but poor financial investments (bank) has put the company at risk moving forward. Tenured Managers and Supervisors are being let go for cost cutting measures while Officers are receiving yearly bonuses which equate to 1/2 the salary of front line employees.

Pros

The benefits and pay are excellent.

Cons

Cold, sterile, life-sucking, cubical-filled monotony. The work is extremely boring. The software is OLD. I spent more time struggling through red tape than doing actual work. The work-home balance is gradually shifting toward work as more and more after-hours and weekend events are planned. Other employees here are obviously still shell-shocked from previous layoffs and restructuring. They get nervous if you talk about something non-work related for more than thirty seconds. Most work through lunch everyday and stay after-hours.
