Pros

Colleagues and co-workers are very friendly.

Cons

Leadership style is corporate, "yes sir"; focuses on having multiple levels of administrators, not teachers and school staff; follows a daycare calendar, not a school year calendar.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We do see Guidepost Montessori as a community for trained Montessorians and hope that our school leaders reflect this philosophy in their leadership style. We hope that Montessorians will shape our schools at all levels. We are also very transparent that we are open year round, which allows us to provide a Montessori education to children who would otherwise not be able to attend. We know that every child from 0-6 years old thrives in consistency and order, and we are proud to be able to support their development over the summer months.

Pros

The teachers and children are WONDERFUL to work with.

Cons

The corporation HigherGround behind Guidepost cares nothing for their employees or the children/families that attend their schools. On the employee front, the pay and benefits leave much to be desired. Taking time off is next to impossible, otherwise you are made to feel as though you are causing a problem to the rest of staff. They treat the employees with no consideration, care, or support. The lead teachers have no say as to what takes place in their classrooms, they move children around with no concern as to how it will affect them. There is favoritism and nepotism running rampant, while qualified staff are overlooked. As far as the way families and children are concerned the admin team fails to report illnesses and incidents to parents. They have recently hired a new Head of School and the corporate office does not support her in any way. I would not recommend this as a place to work or send your child.

Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to let us know about your experience. We greatly appreciate your perspective and are looking closely at our school in Raleigh. We recognize that our school and Montessori program is only as strong as our guides and school culture. Our goal is to have each of our schools as an independent community, within the larger network of schools. The network of support is here to provide assistance for the success of the school and the empowerment of the school leader to make the best decisions for their guides and families. We recognize that at times a Head of School may struggle with implementing the best procedures and practices for protecting the integrity of the Montessori program and their employee%E2%80%99s time off and work experience. We are highly concerned with issues of favoritism and nepotism that you raise. While we provide many training opportunities for our Assistant Guides, we allow the Head of School to make the final decision about promotions based on the needs of the classroom's community. We expect them to look closely at the qualifications, not just the tenure, of the strongest and eligible guides. This is a core feature of our internal development of our assistants and hope that everyone has a chance to grow with us.
