Pros

Sane working hours, partly due to SCRUM and "sustainable pace". Good work environment. Really sharp people. Good ratio of product managers and QA to developers. Great market placement. Good work/life balance.

Cons

Guidewire has a substantial proprietary technology stack. Some of what you learn won't transfer out. Low turnover means the injection of new ideas is slower than at some places.

Pros

You get to work with some brilliant people who really know software and care a good deal about craftsmanship. Great culture and work ethic of the people there. In some ways Guidewire is a picture perfect software company.

Cons

It's only true if you're a software engineer. Woe betide you if you're in a different department. Hard to get information and requirements (at least this was true when I worked there).
