Pros

Opportunity to grow and move up in management. Commission can earn you decent money, especially for those without a college degree. Employee discounts are a life saver for us gear heads.

Cons

Often hard to fade (sell enough to compensate for your hours), especially in stores with limited clientele base. Work can be taxing and unrewarding for those not passionate about music. Hours are less than ideal. Most of your active day is at work. Often won't leave to go home until 930 or later. Guitar Center as a corporation is not as wholesome as I would like. The chain is very liberal and will ignore poor conduct if they sell enough. This applies to managers as well.

Pros

Steady hours, fun coworkers, play new gear when management isn't breathing down your neck.

Cons

Management is completely money driven, if you have a bad sales week you're punished. Guitar center takes the fun out of playing music.
