Pros

What they do in terms of diversity, mental health, and benefits they give to employees is excellent. The C level / board level staff are inspirational, down to earth and genuinely care about the GS community and live by their core values. * Good People * Good Benefits * Excellent chiefs and inspiring * Genuinely care about the well being of the community and it's staff * Ambitious * Dare to be different * Amazing Office * Excellent team lead in the Software Team

Cons

My journey at Gymshark unfortunately hasn't been a great experience. I didn't have a great on boarding, and the tech was a little bit smoke and mirrors as there is a lot of work to do, in terms of efficiency, test coverage and cicd. Not that it's a bad thing as that's what you hire good people for. Unfortunately morale was quite low in the team I was in, and it's difficult being positive in that environment. I felt that with all my experience I wasn't able to really make difference even though I felt really passionate about making things better. I didn't feel empowered, and felt like middle management said all the right things but never backed anything up with any substance or action. I had good feedback from my colleagues and was doing well there, I just wasn't happy. I felt really restricted. I'm used to making an impact in the business I'm in, going above and beyond to push tech forwards, but always felt restricted and disconnected from other tech teams. The morale around me already seemed broken. They are making a lot of changes, and they are restructuring with a head of engineering role coming up which if they get the right person, can instill great tech culture and really make huge improvements. I'm sure it'll get better, there is alot of good people there who want to make things better. I just was not very happy there after 6 months and time is too short really when it starts impacting how you feel It's important to note this is from my experience in tech. It is a large business and does not reflect on other departments.

Pros

Gym membership Lunch allowance People are mostly really great Office space is modern with good facilities Good tech Sample sales Discount

Cons

Pay overall is poor and varies massively. Workload is very high and a stressful place to be. Seems to be no real strategy, people interpreting things differently and therefore no direction for staff. Things change a lot with no real regard for the impact it can have. There’s been a few on and off recruitment pauses since September, lots of really excellent people left during the restructure and not much communication to those safe or at risk. Also hired lots of people last year only to make them at risk of or redundant this year. Handling of the restructure very poor. Gymshark are very vocal about mental health support in the consumer community but this is not reflected within staff remit. Constantly told about resources for support but treating us with more transparency and dignity would have been much more beneficial. Information throughout consultation wasn’t great. Only offered statutory redundancy pay and was told via recorded message about redundancies. Not reflective of the values of Gymshark or how it was mentioned the ‘family’ would be supported. Felt like they were winging it.

Hey thank you for taking the time to leave your review, and we are sorry to hear that this is how you feel. Our new business plan outlined to employees how we intend to achieve continued growth and our Performance Culture Roadshow will help employees with their personal growth. We are also constantly looking at ways in which how we can better ourselves, so it would be great if you could reach out to your people partner so we can work together to make these improvements.

Cons

- Lost it’s values forcing people out - Poor pay ridiculous system to be promoted - Damages employee mental health consistently - Doesn’t value employees - Doesn’t know how to prioritise - Leadership making decisions don’t understand many areas of the business - No longer a great place to work, now an okay job to have if you have tough skin

Hey! We really appreciate the time you have taken with your review. We know being open and honest isn't always easy. Firstly, we'd just like to express that we are really sorry that you feel this way. We are really keen to establish consistency in everything we do, including the ways in which we lead. On the basis of what you have said, we would massively encourage you to pick this up with your People partner, as well as our well-being team. We are always eager to learn and grow, and we would really appreciate more insight into how the pressures at work might affect people. We acknowledge that we are a youthful company, and we know we still have much to learn. However, we truly believe that the measures we have started to introduce, such as Performance Culture, will have a really positive impact on personal growth, as well as the career growth of our employees.
