Pros

The other work mates, (APART FROM MANAGEMENT.) The 50% off staff discount.

Cons

Management is shockingly bad, other than the Senior leads the other Team Leads don't seem to have a clue what is going on. Team members know more about the store than Leads and yet the leads are getting paid more. They offshore their tasks to team members when they can't be bothered to do them theirselves. Some team leads genuinely have no knowledge of anything about the company and it is shocking how they got their jobs to begin with but it is no surprise when they all seemed to know each other previously working at Nike together. It's all a bunch of nepotism and it is disgusting. Meant to be an inclusive company but they have staff that tell female staff that if they work out their arms they won't be attractive to men anymore. There is NO communication between anyone in the company so no one knows what is going on at any point and when asking Team Leads you get a response of "Why would I know they don't tell us anything". Unless you have a morning shift you are unlikely to be able to have much of a social life if you're working 2-10 every shift. Staff are very unhappy with the excessive micro managing by leads, no one is listening to staff with their reasonable complaints. About to be a lot of turnovers if nothing is fixed. Good luck to anyone wanting to work here, joke of a company.

A mixed experience in a company at a turning point

Pros

A company name on your CV which is well regarded. Excellent facilities for those willing to be office based, including well designed work spaces, fully equipped gym with classes and heavily subsidised food. An entrepreneurial workforce with a ‘can-do’ attitude. A growing focus on diversity, inclusion, mental health and physical wellbeing. Openness to hybrid and flexible working.

Cons

Gymshark has got too big for the enthusiastic – but inexperienced – senior leadership team, resulting in a series of poor decisions over the past 24 months that are negatively impacting profit. A chaotic working environment due to no alignment at the top and lack of processes across the entire business. A history of promoting those who’ve worked at Gymshark for a long time, without assessing broader role capability, has created a number of managers who lack the experience required to set strategic direction and develop people. Ambiguous job remits, combined with a culture of recognising those who shout the loudest, means employees who deliver quietly but consistently are overlooked. A restructure and redundancy process which was supposed to be company-wide, impacted some functions more than others. This created accusations of favouritism, uncertainty, and a breakdown of cross-department collaboration which are still unresolved 7 months on.
