I've only been working here for about 3 months but I have gotten some bad vibes already. My resume isn't the most impressive as a 24 year old student, but cashiering isn't my first rodeo and I asked for 10$ an hour starting. They start me at 9 and inform me "this is what we start everyone at." I accepted this as I assumed hard work would earn me recognition (and increased pay)I was later informed by co workers that this was not entirely accurate as they were started at higher wages. Well after only a month being there the company began doing their bi annual reviews of employees. I should have been training to be a cashier, but the management wanted me to push shopping carts in the parking lot the majority of the time. I'm talking in triple digit heat, over 20 hours of my "hair under 40," hour work week outside in the lot. These reviews were based a lot on your abilities as a cashier, but when I could have been training to get my items per minute (cashier speed quota) up, I was in the parking lot. So my review was based on seriously less than one 40 hour week of me on the register which impacted my review since they justified giving me a .17$ raise. Not. Even. A quarter. How hard I worked outside really wasn't even a factor. If I have more of this garbage in the future I will be finding a new job.
