Underpaid People Caring for Developmentally Delayed Children

Pros

Snack time, story time, and location.

Cons

Unfortunately every negative review below is spot on, it really is a shame that some people are able to start government funded programs and manage to get away with exploiting the money and resources that should be for developmentally delayed children. One example is that staff members are recruited from the center to work at the director's private company. It was the government's money that paid for those people to be trained as behavioral therapist and assistants. Those that "move on" manage to find direct employment with the program supervisor's private company that provides the same services as Hand in Hand. Those ABA services are provided at boutique level prices for the families with their developmentally delayed children. Meanwhile the professionals that stay behind, or are not offered positions at the "sister" company, are at Hand in Hand and are treated badly by upper management. As we do our best with minimal resources to care for the delayed children enrolled at the center, sadly, we are not paid a living wage. It truly begs the question as to who is getting a living wage, or possibly much more than a living wage?

Absolute Worst Management

Pros

Dedicated staff at the center based program on the 3rd floor children who attend the center excellent ABA training provided by competent therapists great staff rapport on the 3rd floor

Cons

The owners of this agency have zero interest in the quality of services that are provided. Fortunately, the staff of the 3rd floor take it upon themselves to provide rigorous training to all employees. All the management cares about is money and billable hours. They have zero respect for any employee, regardless of rank in the system. There is no communication on their end unless you repeatedly harass them to answer your emails, phone calls, and in person visits. The Second Floor of this agency is a complete mess- filled with underpaid and undertrained "employees" many of whom are just friends of the owners. It is not a friendly work environment, nor do they ever show an ounce of care for the teacher assistants on the 3rd floor. Management walk around speaking loudly and openly belittling and complaining about staff. One particular owner is the most sexist and chauvinistic human on this earth. It is an absolute wonder how anyone stays on at this agency as an employee, being that they are treated like absolute dirt.
