Pros

- Benefits were kept largely intact from the company that I was forced to rebadge from. - Was mostly left alone to focus on my day to day client work.

Cons

- No raises during the high inflation years gave the impression that retaining existing onshore talent was less important than saving money through cheaper offshore or onshore personnel.

Pros

I really did not experience any pros.

Cons

I originally worked for 1 company and they sold my whole department to HCL. HCL constantly told us, "it is not our intention to ever fire you but we may try to find a different area or position in the company for you to work" while everyone was scared of getting fired. They quickly got the best employees from my dept to virtually train new people for the job out of India and the Philippines, they never paid attention to us and were too busy talking amongst each other so I assume they didn't have some type of supervisor out there watching them? So as a result, they were terrible at their jobs and tried to reach out to us/trainers after training every other minute for help. After enough time of those new people tanking scores, HCL created ridiculous tests for us to take each month to test our knowledge on the job, the test was not accurately worded and didn't have fully correct answers so mostly everyone failed that too obviously. After the 1 year mark, me and my coworkers were asking if we'd get a raise like we did with our old company, managers didn't know. Then a month later 1/3 of us got 1 cent, 3 cent and 11 cent raises and managers didn't know about that either. That really helped us out in this economy. And then 5 months later, we were all told we were being let go but they would try to find other positions for us at HCL as well as we had 2 paid weeks not working to look for HCL jobs ourselves. A couple directors told us that on a video call with no way to ask questions. In that time when I did look for different jobs, there were no positions in my state so it was pointless. It just really rubbed everyone the wrong way that HCL could've been upfront and not lie constantly to us that they wanted to keep us when really all along they wanted to fire us and replace us with people from India and the Philippines so they could pay them much less- $5-6 an hour. HCL also has really outdated software for being a tech company. Their time card system is a nightmare, extremely slow and clocks each time you enter information and is down for maintenance a lot. Imagine how technology looked in 2000, that is what HCL technology reminds me of. Your direct managers are in the dark just as much as you are. Me and all of my peers were constantly told different information for the same position. Since our direct managers are kept in the dark, they constantly directed us to random specific people who didn't know how to help us either.

Pros

Benefits, salary, bonuses, location, management

Cons

It took them over a month to get my offer letter together and getting my background checks back. It was very chaotic and stressful
