Great Company - Some Opportunities to make it better
Pros
Your career is in your hands. You can choose to stay in your position, or get promoted to lead an entire department. Really up to you. The benefits are great: vacation time, profit sharing, fully covered health care, amenities, educational fund, etc. Hard work doesn't go unnoticed and the company is willing to invest in their employees. I consider my job fun and don't mind going to work. but that could be my mindset. Financials are shared and everyone knows where we stand as a company. Friday lunches are catered and department lunches are also possible and paid for, depending on the situation. You are given the freedom to do your job. A lot of responsibility goes with certain positions, but it's very rewarding. On a side note: I read the previous review, and that encouraged me to write a follow-up. I think any current employee who is that dissatisfied working for HCSS should seriously consider working somewhere else. This is mainly in response to the previous reviewer who said that we are "forced" to write a positive review. That's not the case, I was at the meeting. We were encouraged to write a company review, based on how we truly feel. I can see why because people are much more likely to write a negative review than take the time to appreciate the environment we have. Again, nobody said anything about writing positive reviews, or forced anything on employees.
Cons
Even with the best companies, there are some cons: Lack of accountability, mainly in Development I am worried that the new building may create even a bigger wall between the two main departments. Our QA process must be improved. The hiring process is very difficult. While I understand the purpose of it, considering our current staffing situation, it would be great to try different tactics.
