      Pros

      HII, specifically Newport News Shipbuilding is a very stable company with lots of opportunity. Shipbuilding is a very unique and interesting business. Hard work is recognized within the company.

      Cons

      Budgets are tied to government spending and operations can sometimes feel stifled by large amount of formalization of rigid hierarchy. It is also easy to get lost in the shuffle and many are able to float by without much effort.

      Pros

      Have been able to do different things over the years. Very interesting and rewarding work at times. Benefits in the past have been good, now they are just fair.

      Cons

      Future business outlook looks bleak. Near term promotion outlook bleak and job security looks bleak. Politically correct HR policy. (ex. Mentor program, etc. obviously includes certain groups, and excludes others). Compliant management promoted, visionary management need not apply. Implements processes for the sake of process, with little feedback as to effectiveness. Union WF overhead/appeasement is a burden on bottom line.
