Pros

Phenomenal co-workers who care deeply about the work and the clients; stretched thin by ineffective or harmful management policies. The work itself is meaningful, but conditions are horrendous.

Cons

Management is entirely unwilling to listen to employees and adjust company policy to reflect operational realities. Low wages and low benefits. High turnover leads to understaffing and overwork. No consistency in promotions or raises. It's abundantly clear that while the company's management may have expertise in immigration law, they have no experience whatsoever in successfully running an organization. Ignore the positive reviews here--they're almost invariably posted at regular intervals by HR--this is not a company even worth associating yourself with professionally.

could be a rewarding job, poor management ruins it

Pros

-You will get to work with incredibly talented, intelligent, and compassionate coworkers -Helping clients navigate the immigration process can be rewarding - seeing clients' reactions to obtaining the I-140 approvals or green cards is fulfilling -Flexible hours

Cons

While this job has the potential to be fulfilling work, the poor management pretty much negates any of the positives. I saw numerous red flags upon being hired, but at the time I was desperate for a job. I have only stayed so long due to the uncertainty from the pandemic. -Salary is unclear, as you are actually paid hourly. The bonus system the company uses is completely subjective and rewards quantity over quality. As a writer, my monthly income was variable, and the base earnings I knew I would receive from the hourly wage was barely enough to get by. Asking for a raise is a painful and arduous process that is often denied without a valid reason. -This is a bit of a specific con, but this job requires the use of Microsoft Word to draft and edit templated documents. When we began working from home, I asked for company access to Microsoft Word so that I could edit these documents, and I was denied. -It is abundantly clear that the interests of the clients are not a priority. Every single department is understaffed and overworked due to an over-retention of clients, making it impossible to dedicate the time and energy necessary to make each petition the best it can be. -The company is more concerned with their outward perception than with the actual quality of their service. Management obsesses over immigration forums, and clients who complain are given special treatment, often to the detriment of their case. Most of the positive reviews here on Glassdoor have in fact been posted by the company in order to artificially inflate their rating and encourage applicants. -The company structure is unclear. I was hired by Hudson, but apparently it's HIPR, but it is all under the umbrella of Chen Immigration, which is also called North American Immigration Law Group, and we deal with Talentopia, which provides contractors. -There is a distinct lack of communication and training. Policies are often implemented with no warning or effective communication. You are not given training on any policy changes - you are expected to figure it out but still be punished for any errors or for speaking out against the ineffective way they were implemented. Any attempts to speak up or effect change individually are ignored. -The pandemic response was poor - benefits such as bonuses and gym and meal reimbursements were taken away, and the work from home order issued by the company was used as a "look at how much we've done for you" tactic. -This is not a healthy work environment, and it in fact leads to overwhelming stress, anxiety, and burnout. It is impossible to stay on top of your job duties and work only a 40 hour work week. All you can do is get as much done as possible in 8 hours and hope you won't be reprimanded or fired for being unable to do more.

Pros

The work at Hudson can be rewarding. Assisting clients in their immigration processes is fulfilling and can be rewarding. The subject matter also allows you to learn about the latest in science and health.

Cons

Management is unclear, erratic, and often unreasonable. There are few clear lines of communication and morale is terrible. Expectations are not clear and rewards for performance are even less clear. There is no clear structure and turnover is crazy high.
