      Excellent Company to Work For- Depending on Your Team

      Pros

      -Great communication of leadership -Good team bond -Lots of opportunity for upward movement -Good sense of responsibility to community

      Cons

      -It depends on your department and team. I've never experienced cons, but I have talked to others in other areas with other managers who have experienced hardships -Changes in structure and outsourcing- although HMSA has a strong commitment to the community and wanting to keep staff local they've started outsourcing certain functions to help keep cost down for the members

      Pros

      People I work with are knowledgeable and experts in their fields of speciality(they deserve raises, a better PTO policy and an apology!) Work from home Honolulu building is remodeled and fresh The Mission and Vision is to serve the people of Hawaii. I see that the employees really strive to put this at the core of everything they do.

      Cons

      Benefits are uncompetitive (basically you cannot take time off even if you are a caregiver) NOT family-friendly since if you decide to have a baby or adopt you can't have job security "Ways of working" very structured, clunky- a disadvantage for a company that wants to be agile. No mentorship baked in their career development Toxic work culture-- not in my dept BUT heard from another department. Proof is high turnover of top talent.
