Pros

There are some real people trying to make a difference there for the right reasons. Good work/life balance because you don't get direction sometimes for a long while.

Cons

"Hurry up and wait" lead to frustration. Was sometimes rough...backbiting, even from leaders, and some that just make you not want to go to work. Bad culture.

Pros

Good people Flexible work hours The rare terrific managers that know their stuff and try their best to care for their employees despite the lack of assistance from upper management.

Cons

Terrible communication throughout the company. HMSA is switching over to EyeMed and the work effort is relying on 18 different work streams all which don't know the other work streams exists because they are helmed by people who don't know what the work entails or even what departments are responsible for what. Upper management are not honest or transparent and middle management spend most of their time not knowing anything including the work their teams work on. Overworked, under staffed, constant expectation for overtime unless you're hourly, removal of matching 401k benefits, sunset of pension, lowering of accruable vacation time, removal of raises while keeping the most convoluted essay form of yearly self-evaluation process, lowest tier workers are often blamed to their faces by their direct supervisors for not meeting unrealistic expectations given by upper management. Departments were pitted against one another to prove their worth to the company only to all end up being released from the company. Purpurates the age old company habit of over working the hard workers and letting those who don't get away with it in order to avoid "conflict and possible HR issues." Lack of career opportunities. Witnessed firsthand employees not being offered an internal job they applied for because their current department is understaffed and unable to let that employee go. There are other scenarios where an employee was allowed to transfer but ended up working for both departments simultaneously for well over a year.
