Pros

They treat you as a family, give you a paid break and pay for your food; always treat you with respect and promptly address all your concerns; working there is an opportunity to make great money

Cons

There are no cons to work for them

Pros

I enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and making great money.

Cons

Ultimately was fired for doing nothing wrong, just something that's a part of the job. For whatever reason that day they decided it was no longer something we did. There's no paperwork that we had a sign acknowledging the change in rules. Managers play too much politics.

Pros

It seems very easy to get hired there, it can be fun working in an airport, and server tips can average $150-$300 depending on how busy the day is and how well you can work under immense pressure on extremely busy days for hours on end.

Cons

The pay was $2.15/hour for servers plus tips, so you might say they're relying heavily on the customer to make up the difference. Management was inconsistent and did not hold people accountable for completing side work. Expectations were all over the place, and much of the restaurant's equipment was outdated and constantly breaking down. For some reason, they couldn't replace simple equipment, such as ticket printers that are essential to FOH/BOH communications and the smooth operation of the restaurant. I did not personally get the sense that HMSHost cares for its employees. Management largely felt unprofessional and unorganized. Upper management was disconnected from its employees and the director was very much disliked by many lower-level employees. Morale was always fairly low. We would get slammed for hours straight and fight to keep up during the busy season. I found it to be too chaotic and ridiculous to be sustainable. We often wouldn't even have a host to sit customers, so they would just walk in and seat themselves, often at dirty tables. We were told at one point that we would get assistance with a busser, but that never happened. It would have helped tremendously, who knows why we never got one. HMSHost is an international company, so hopefully other's experiences within it are better than mine. I was a part-time employee working less than 32 hours a week (because they couldn't give me 4 days), so I didn't get any benefits beyond PTO if I recall correctly.
