Pros
HRsmart is a decent sized company with a small company feel. This has a lot of benefits, some examples: *someone wanted to put in a game room in the office and was able to do it *we wanted cheap mountain dew so the company bought a fridge *management is easy to access and around the office all the time *lack of red tape *ease of transfer between departments *authority to make decisions is given at all levels *employees are given a lot of flexibility There are some other general benefits: *great benefits for a company of its size (several health plans, short/long disability, life, dental, 401k, etc) *it is a self funded company which means people in the building choose the direction of the company. While there was some client loss (and revenue loss) during the recession of 2008, the last numbers show a > 97% client retention rate. I trust the new management team to ensure we stay on track with prudent growth. *there were some concerns with the product in 2008, but those have been resolved and significant investment has been made in the product. The new platform is less buggy and faster and there are many customers using it completely "inside the box."
Cons
That flexibility has its downsides as well: *its easy to make change in this fast paced company, but sometimes the decisions are made quickly and require more change management than they are given. Self funding also has a downside in that we only spend money we have. This means they replace laptops and other non-production systems on a longer life cycle than some companies. That being said, if investment is required to service customers (servers, hosting, etc), approval is given instantly.
