OK place to work

Pros

Very large international bank; focus in the US is on commercial banking and wealth management. If you are open to international postings or multilingual, this could be a very good company for you.

Cons

Conservative, risk adverse, laying off many US employees in non-core businesses, very slow to change, salary growth last few years was either non-existant or pathetic.

Pros

Company is filled with smart and friendly colleagues. Many of them are ex-consultants and top recruits from leading companies. They are willing to wait for the right talent and pay good money to get them onboard. Can learn a lot from direct managers. Large scope of work gives good general management experience. In general, company has very good intention to treat it customers the way they would want their own grandmother to be treated. Very strong supporter of environmental causes.

Cons

Strategy shifts drastically when CEO changes. Consensus driven culture leading lack of accountablity. Every small decisions have to float up to London. In order to "manage better from London", silos were created which made environment very difficult to get things accomplished. In the US, bank failed to creat a strong brand despite operation in the country for over 25 years.
