Pros

Big office, people are nice. CEO is always present and friendly.

Cons

*Benefits are awful. *Management refuses to discipline. They have an "ignore it and it will go away" mentality. *They also have a lot of employees who do nothing all day and just wanders around the office (most of the commercial certificate department, for example.) A lot of people take advantage of the lenient management and take long lunches or go for a smoke every 10 minutes. HUB pays a lot of people to just mess around all day which is frustrating to the people who have to pick up the slack. *There is no training program for any position, they kind of just throw you to the sharks. They need a formal training program for every department.

Great people - not what you think though

Pros

The employees as people are super friendly and easy to get along with. Love my team and we all get along really well. Other departments are fairly easy to work with.

Cons

Management style is not for everyone. Very often will be approached with a question of when something will be done that you never knew was on your plate. Don't feel heard. Very hard to find time to discuss future with supervisors.

Pros

Expense accounts are nice because you can wine and dine your way into accounts.

Cons

Everything else, no culture, training is conducted by folks who have never sold insurance in their lives. Reputation in the market is not very good. Very easy for brokers in the same realm to destroy us because of our reputation. The guys who cannot grow organically so they decide to be exit strategies for old insurance agency principals who have no desire to bring in new business once they sell. it is going to be interesting to see how HUB supports in organic growth when all of the agency principals they buy decide to exit the business. My belief is that they are going to have to sell to a larger shop like Marsh or Gallagher.
