They do have some benefits

The benefits get worse and worse every year. They are taking the average hourly pay away for new hires and if they take PTO, they will get paid minimum wage which is ridiculous. The amount of PTO you can accrue is being diminished. They have been saying for years now that they will be “working” on a compensation for high producing part timers who have absolutely no way to make the numbers to get paid their worth and yet to have come up with a plan. We spend way too much time fixing the mistakes “Lily” makes and getting chewed out because appointments are being booked incorrectly. Stop letting marketing who know NOTHING of how appointments work book them. Stop allowing steep discounts that the stylists have to suck up instead of being paid for their work when the company still makes money off of it.

Hair Cuttery has a strong business model, I love being able to raise my commission to almost %60, work a flexible schedule, and maintain a W-2 status.

Cons

They recently have started sending out %50 off coupons, which leaves us making very little after commission and taxes.

Regarding your feedback around the coupons, we totally hear your concern. Having a guest use 50% off a service can sometimes feel painful for that particular invoice. The good news is we are only sending this high discount to guests that have not returned to the salon in a VERY long time. Our goal is not to hurt your bottom dollar, but rather help you build your book of business by retaining guests that we feel would not have come back to the salon without this discount offer. Your insight as a seasoned stylist is incredibly valuable, and we will share this feedback internally as we ensure our promotional strategies continue to balance overall brand growth with our stylists' immediate earning potential.
