Pros

None. Benefits aren’t anything to write home about. And HR thinks thinks they have the best in the industry. Trust me,with more than 20 years in publishing, they don’t.

Cons

Very toxic work environment. Manager did not allow Co workers to talk with each other. Could not ask for opinions from colleagues. Manager (woman) hates men. So insecure about her position she has to remind everyone she is the boss. Manager called employees “stupid” on several occasions. Manager mocked previous company I worked for, even though that company is larger than Harper Collins.

Free books. At least five words.

Cons

Lower than average wages. Uncaring and rude management. Poor management work ethic and snobbery. Favoritism and clique environment. Disillusioned co-workers and random firings. General toxic environment with little chance for growth.

Pros

Fun environment and they really made me feel like part of the process. I had independent projects and learned a great deal.

Cons

Some managers were willing to involve me in every step of the publishing process while others were not. It depends on the team.
