Pros

Good Family Oriented Organization to work for. Everyone is in your business, wants to know your business or will start a rumor that has nothing to do with your business

Cons

Pay. Raising that are supposed to come from Annual review do not help at all. Manager will give you poor scores intentionally so they have a reason for not giving you a raise. No career advancement. Manager gave favorite. If you are not a favorite or have longevity with the company your treated unfairly

This is a county funded organization so there are necessary limits to financial perks ie bonuses, and competitive salaries.

HHS is above average, horrible IT group leaves them with serious discrepancies

Pros

Pay is good for government work and the benefits are better than most in the private sector. Outside of IT people are quite nice but I am also under the impression that everything is very cliquish and is rife with nepotism.

Cons

Zero chance for real advancement unless you like to wait for someone to die and leave and hope the incompetent management takes a look at you. There is a complete disengagement by lower and middle management that allows incompetency and a near complete dereliction of duty and lack of work ethic from the rest of IT. Their security standards are laughable and they have no real implementation strategy that a professional wouldn't be ashamed to admit to. I have not come across anyone there with real leadership or IT ability in the entire organization aside from several amazing people who are completely unrecognized due to their managers finding ways to appear busy while they disengage.
