Pros

Good benefits. An immediate job after graduation, it really all depends on what unit you are on. My expierence will probably be different than the next person and the previous I have very few pros besides a steady pay check.

Cons

Always getting canceled 2 hours before the start of my shift and the having to use my PTO to cover those hours due to low census. Again, this is the unit I work on. I feel like theres no work life balance espically with working nights. But the pay is better at night and we all have student loans to pay unfortunately.

Pros

I work at Ben Taub. Pay is $16.75/hr, $26.75/hr for high-need shifts.

Cons

Role is supplemental, no benefits, no tuition reimbursement, etc. When people see those burgundy scrubs walking through, they look at you like a turd is floating down the hallway. RNs, staff act as if you're not a human being. Sitting in a cramped room for 12 hours with a patient who is aggressive, has altered mental status, etc. is no fun. I avoided COVID for 3.5y but one month after working at Ben Taub caught it, even though I always wear a mask. What can you do if you're sitting for 12h with a pt who is not wearing a mask?
