Pros

Friendly co-workers, nice location, growth potential,

Cons

Working in Hawaii always comes at a premium. Generally, companies pay less than mainland counterparts often citing the high cost of doing business in the 50th state. Cost of living is high for individuals and the State has a punative tax structure. Hawaiian is a good company, but is struggling with its new identity. For years, it operated in an almost "plantation worker" environment. This is not derogatory, but rather meant to reflect that the owner/worker relationship was more familial. Today, the airlines recent growth is requiring changes that poorly align with an "island" mentality. We still talk the talk of Ohana (family), but we operate more like a corporation. The company struggles with this transition.

Pros

I want to say the flight benefits, but they only serve you if you're lucky or have 10+ years at Hawaiian. So, hope for luck.

Cons

Management (Sr. Directors and above) do not appreciate it's front line nor its office workers. Hawaiian is a very top heavy company, with more Directors than managers. It's too siloed for anything really productive to occur, it's safety culture is absolutely abysmal and no one wants to take action on it. To the point, I have no faith or trust in management to do the right thing. Despite, doing fine financially the last few years, I think our Finance and Accounting department mismanage company resources. Overall, it's fine if you work here but only if you work under either Finance and Accounting or Commercial as they get paid the best. If you work under any of the Operational departments, you won't get paid very well and you'll work the hardest to get things done.

Pros

Travel Benefits, Location and Employees.

Cons

Undefined Management and HR Practices for employee separations. Management has no loyalty to 10 year employees. Staff reorganizations will bump lower positions which affect career employees, so don't expect any protection from being bumped out of a job by a higher level employee or Sr. Management buddy.
