Haworth family is great, but has little influence over the company.

Pros

Family owned company. Financially stable. Great employees. Great products.

Cons

Shift in senior management mindset. Historically, very focused on company values (Customers, Members, Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Results, World). In the last 5 years or so, the Values are given lip service, but not demonstrated.

Pros

Good benefits, opportunity for overtime during busy months, co-workers are nice and easy to work with for the most part.

Cons

Depending on what department you started in, you were either trained decently or thrown in and expected to make rate pretty quick. There was a training log for new employees and all though it was filled out by team leaders, it was not overseen that it was followed correctly. The biggest problem I saw lied within the high management, not necessarily the plant manager. New rule changes, procedures, and guidelines were changed so frequently; it became difficult to keep everything straight and became frustrating. Nothing was ever consistent. Certain employees in "the circle" would get leniency when it came to time-off while others would not. A lot of work decisions, such as promotions for an example, were based on popularity or who you were friends with. Some people were put in charge of areas they knew nothing about, and tried to change expectations on productivity/procedures, and then wondered why it wasn't working. Employees who worked in the areas were asked for ideas, but when given they were not listened to or viewed as important. Then a new procedure change would be made by someone who had never even worked in the area before, or knew it's day to day operations. It was rare to get compliments or encouragement for good work, however the negative talks came quite frequently. I could go on and on, but to sum things up, it was more or less the equivalent of high school all over again. Low morale overall, talk behind peoples back, tension, and hypocrisy filled this place.

Pros

Inspiring facilities, genuine people - unpretentious, culture of integrity and honesty. Big into sustainability - walks the talk when it comes to company values. Culture is evolving and glad to see that company is very much performance based and holds people accountable. Good development opportunities. Love that it is a family owned business. The Chairman and owner walks around - knows people by name and even knows the names of your kids. Puts policies in place to allow for work-life balance.

Cons

Can't think of anything.
