Stay away from jobs in operations

Pros

There are a lot of good people who work here, trapped by a bad economy. They work hard for the company and believe in the product offering they have to offer

Cons

The upper level operational leaders believe in blaming people first and improving processes second. Because of this they have a high turn over rate, both moving people into new positions and moving them out of the company. This has happened to not only long term employees, but also to employees they have hired in the last two years. Be careful if you are looking at a position here, you may not last long

Pros

If you are in sales it's a great place to be, there is lots of opportunity especially if you are willing to relocate.

Cons

There is a lack of communications between sales/engineering/manufacturing. Although I'm sure it's the same at most manufacturing companies.

Pros

Work-life balance if you take charge; reward hardworking people; very financially stable company; very low infighting; good people on the whole; very nice HQ building to work in; Some great mentors who see beyond Haworth's four walls; Good opportunities for advancement, but only if you're a man.

Cons

Management is risk-averse and some are incapable of spending money; Design team/products are slow to market and well behind competitors; general lack of innovation; company hasn't grown marketshare in like 20 years; lots of B-level talent that just fill seats; the open-plan office environment is so annoying because you can't have a private conversation or are bothered by others; Company has a lot of older folks that have been there 25+ years which stifles creativity, productivity, and career advancement; Low opportunities to travel and learn from external workshops/groups.
