A bright future for the company (and its members) if we can pull together.

Pros

Great leadership training with focus on continuous improvement, continuous development, and employee engagement. Good strategy (although not communicated well). Fantastic office! A lot of flexibility with work hours, work location, etc., when practical. Good benefits.

Cons

1) Strategy and goals are far too complex to be cascaded down and across using communication methods. 2) Despite the company's efforts, some leaders (at every level) are not onboard with where we are trying to go, how we plan to get there, and that THEY need to grease the skids. 3) Silos feel like they are sustained from the top. 4) Compensation plan attracts unexceptional workers and, as a result, sustains unexceptional performance.

Pros

Treat their employees like adults. No micromanaging of my position. Family based, private corporation with worldwide reach.

Cons

No private office to work in which takes an adjustment.

Morale at an all-time low in IT

Pros

Decent pay for the area, quality people to work with for the most part, nice location, good tradition, an opportunity to be immersed in decent technology, beautiful updated building at HQ to work in.

Cons

Inability to learn from past mistakes. Example: Oracle project --> SAP project. Management will flat out lie to you to get what they need out of you. 40% to 50% of the current IT staff would walk out today if they could acquire a comparable job elsewhere based on comments made to me...only the crash of the economy has prevented some of that happening. Information is power at Haworth and many, including many managers, refuse to pass it on. Needlessly complicated processes and far too numerous meetings make getting things done difficult. Watch your back.
