Pros

I’ve been at Health Catalyst for less than six months but I can say it’s the best place I’ve worked. Leadership is completely honest and transparent about the health and direction of the company. Catalyst was founded with a strong mission, guiding principles, and cultural attributes that show through in everything we do. It’s so great to come into work and rub shoulders with so many smart, hardworking, and humble people. The benefits are very good. Reimbursement for cell phone, home internet, headphones, public transportation, wellness, etc. Maternity and paternity leave are both 12 weeks paid. Onsite gym with classes and trainers. Quarterly fitness challenges. Free snacks and beverages. Very generous paid holidays and PTO policy. Catalyst isn’t bogged down in policies – they believe in the employees and that they’ll make the right decisions. Even though I’m still fairly new at Catalyst, I can see the potential for a long career here. Joining a small company creates some of that potential but also seeing how leadership is open to trying new things and letting people do what excites and motivates them to grow and learn and succeed.

Cons

I pay more for health insurance at Catalyst than anywhere else I’ve worked - both premiums and deductibles are higher. As the new guy on my team, I feel like I’m being ping-ponged around to work on different odds and ends. This hasn’t helped me learn the methodology or full functionality of the Catalyst toolset. I would really appreciate digging into one project from start to finish so I can connect all the dots. I’m sure that time will come but I don’t know that I’m any more prepared now than when I got out of training. Catalyst prides itself on not being an organization that micromanages its people. My team seems to have taken this to the extreme. I’ve only had one meeting with my manager and it was the boilerplate “hi, how are you” kind of meeting. The Leads on my team are so busy that they struggle to provide timely guidance and mentoring. I spent a full week post training watching training videos and webinars because I didn’t have anything assigned to me and nobody had anything I could help with when I asked. That was frustrating.

Pros

What an amazing company! it really lives to its cultural attributes (smart, hardworking, and humble). Everybody here is smart, but willing to teach others, everybody here works hard, but the company encourages to spend time with family, to find a balance between personal lives and work. Everybody here is humble, they welcome you as a newbie with open arms, they show you the ropes, they treat you like family. So blessed to be here! As a working mother I have been able to finally work for a company that allows me to balance my personal life with my job. Thank you for the trust! Great benefits, competitive salaries, snacks and fresh fruit in the break rooms, full gym with personal trainers and different fitness classes, Catalyst for Health challenges (where you and your family are encouraged to have a healthier life style and get rewarded for it). And the best of all: making a difference in the world, helping healthcare providers improve their outcomes, and in result, improve (and save) the lives of countless people.

Cons

The commute to get to the office, but they allow you to work from home. They also provide certain amount of reimbursement when you use public transportation and even provide a shuttle from the station to the office. So even this con they turned it into a pro!!
